Method of Remotely Accessing IP Address

In order to access INAV Home from a remote location or view video remotely, you must know the IP Address
of the home computer INAV Home is running on.

Every computer on the internet is identified by a unique number (like 216.123.55.45) called an IP Address.
For most people, this number changes daily if not more often.

There are several web sites that will give you the IP address of your computer if you browse to them, but INAV Home
can send it to an e-mail address for you automatically so you don't have to look it up every day.

There are two methods for determining the IP Address of your home computer while at a remote location.

           *      E-mail IP Address On Startup - This will send an e-mail with the WAN IP address when INAV Home starts up.
It will also send links to the live video display and the video web log (if Broadcasting is turned on).
Fill in the information in the settings dialog and click "Test Send" to see if it is working correctly before you leave
from the computer running INAV Home.

           *      Use a Dynamic IP Address Updater - This is will send your WAN IP Address to a DNS (Domain Name Service)
database that you have an account with. Clicking settings will display a few DNS services that you can open a
free account with. Once you open an account with a DNS, enter your information in the Dynamic IP Address
Updater settings window. Selecting this option will update your IP Address everytime a change is detected.

      Display IP Address

Clicking this button will display your current IP Address for your LAN (Internal or Local Area Network) and your
WAN (External or Wide Area Network).

If you want to access INetAlertView Home's broadcast across your home network from another computer,
           use the LAN IP address.

If you want to access the broadcast from outside your home across the internet, use the WAN IP address.

Note: If you have a router or firewall you must allow access to the ports that are used by INetAlertView.
           For more information, see
Ports Explained .

      Test Broadcast Video

You must click the Display IP Address button before you can click these buttons.

Clicking either of these buttons will display the the live video as it would apear in a web browser
on a remote computer. You must have broadcasting turned on before you can test this.

      Remote Viewing

There are two ways to view LIVE video or RECORDED videos from a remote location:

Using INetAlertView Remote

INetAlertView Remote is a FREE companion program to INAV Home that allows you to view your webcam's
live video over the internet. More importantly, it can alert you INSTANTLY when motion is detected and show you the
live video of the event. It also has several remote control features for controlling INAV Home over the internet
while you are away from your home or business. It can be downloaded from the
.

           Using A Web Browser

If you are at a place where you don't have INAV Remote on a computer, you can still view the the live video
using a Java enabled web browser by typing in a URL which consists of your home computer's IP address and the
port number that INAV Home broadcasts on. An example would be

                http://204.245.34.53:8080/index.htm

where 204.245.34.53 is the IP address and 8080 is the broadcast port number setting in INAV Home.

Likewise, you can access your recorded videos log remotely using a URL too.

                http://204.245.34.53:8080/VideoLog.htm

This will display a web page of thumbnails linked to recorded video files.

These URLs will only work if the Broadcast button is turned on on INAV Home.

It is recommended that you set a password in the Broadcast settings tab of INAV Home for remote viewing
so that others using the same computer will not have free access to your webcam and recorded videos.
